One of the most well-known vendor-neutral credential programs in the IT industry is CompTIA's. CompTIA has received more than two million A+ certifications since its inception in 1993.
Figuring out which IT qualification course to follow can be confusing at times. There are several pathways to being accredited and establishing a tech career. Any people will pursue a career in hardware repair and become experts in server hardware and other areas. The best course for that individual is likely to begin with the CompTIA A+ qualification route, followed by Network+ and other hardware-related certifications. As a security specialist, the CompTIA Security+ credential is a good place to start before moving on to other security-related certifications like Certified Ethical Hacker, CISSP, and others.
CompTIA Infrastructure Career Pathway was launched in early 2018. Although the familiar CompTIA certifications remain the foundation of the CompTIA credential portfolio, this innovative career pathway curriculum further aligns CompTIA certifications with the real-world expertise that IT practitioners need to succeed when operating and maintaining IT infrastructures.
Core Certifications: IT Fundamentals+ (a pre-career qualification based on IT base framework), CompTIA A+ (focused on user assistance and interface connectivity), CompTIA Network+ (targeting core system connections with endpoint devices), and CompTIA Security+ (targeting core system connections with endpoint devices) (focused on entry level cybersecurity skills).
Infrastructure Certifications: Three Infrastructure certifications are available to supplement the Network+ credential: CompTIA Server+ (for server support and administration), CompTIA Platform+ (for hybrid cloud and virtual machine administration), and CompTIA Network+ (for network security).
CompTIA Cloud+ and CompTIA Linux+ are certifications that encompass hybrid cloud, virtual machine administration, and deploying network storage services (focused on Linux operating system administration and management).
CompTIA offers three cybersecurity certifications: CompTIA CySA+ (CySA stands for Cyber Security Analyst, and it is aimed at IT security behavioral analysts), CASP+ (CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner; it is aimed at professionals who design and implement security solutions), and CompTIA PenTest+ (it is aimed at professionals who design and implement security solutions) (Penetration testing, targets professionals who conduct penetration and vulnerability testing).
Additional Professional Certifications: This range covers qualifications such as CompTIA Project+, CompTIA CTT+, and CompTIA Cloud Essentials that don't fall neatly into either of the previous CompTIA career routes.
With so many options, it's possible to get stuck and end up doing something you don't want to do. Fortunately, CompTIA has developed CompTIA Career Paths that you can use to match your career goals and start doing what you enjoy. Let's look at the various CompTIA Career Pathways, see which one fits you best, and hear more about it.

PATHWAY FOR COMPTIA CORE SKILLS[ps2id id='PATHWAY FOR COMPTIA CORE SKILLS' target=''/]
The Core Skills career path would put you ahead of the game in the IT industry. The certifications in this career direction are among the finest in the industry for foundational IT certifications. Here's a look at the certifications available in the Core Skills pathway:
- CompTIA IT Fundamentals+
- CompTIA A+
- CompTIA Network+
- CompTIA Security+
CompTIA considers the Fundamentals+ credential to be a "pre-career" certification that will help you recognize your competency in IT's foundational topics. There is no better qualification to have if you are just getting started with IT than the Fundamentals+ certification. The other certifications have been thoroughly discussed by myself in the past on ClearanceJobs.com; however, Network+ and A+ are the best certifications for your money. Many companies merge these courses and only administer tests at the conclusion of the semester. This is an excellent opportunity for newcomers to the IT industry to get their foot in the house.
