Whenever I connect to a computer remotely to troubleshoot an issue, I always use an administrator command prompt to run'sfc / scannow' to verify that the operating system is not corrupt. SFC, which stands for "system file checker," is a component of the Windows operating system.
When Windows is damaged, it may cause things like this software packs to become stuck at the 'initializing' or 'processing' phase, which is why SFC is such a useful tool for troubleshooting odd Windows problems.
If SFC discovers problems, it may be able to repair them in certain cases but not in others. Also, in my experience, even if SFC shows "No faults," this does not imply that the operating system is not corrupt - it all depends on your system.
To begin, consider the following:
(a) Important: Save this page immediately since you may need to restart the system many times. To do so, click CTRL + D on your keyboard, followed by saving the bookmark to your browser.
(a) Next, click the Start button, then enter "CMD" (without the quotes); wait for "CMD.EXE" or "Command Prompt" to show in the list, then right-click it and choose "Run as Administrator." Download the Update for Universal C Runtime in Windows patch assuming you have no SFC problems (as stated in Step #1). While researching what causes Microsoft Visual C++ to hang during the 'initializing' phase, I discovered a Microsoft patch KB#2999266, which is said to solve the problem.
Because Joe's Windows Update was faulty, he didn't have this fix. This patch is applicable to all versions of Windows, therefore you should download it before proceeding. Once the Update for Universal C Runtime in Windows download is complete, run the installer patch before moving on to the next step.
Then, using an administrator command prompt, download the version of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable that hangs during the installation and utilize the'repair' option. You must execute the executable with the repair option, which is explained further down.
It should be noted that these Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable packages are obtained directly from Microsoft and include the most recent fixes for that version.
